The Juventus midfielder is widely regarded as one of the best young players in the world at the moment, having enjoyed a meteoric rise to prominence since making the move to Turin from Old Trafford back in 2012.

Having previously failed to make the grade at United under Sir Alex Ferguson, the Frenchman has been linked with a big-money return several times since then, though other European giants have also joined the running for his signature.

Chelsea are now hoping to step up their interest in the immensely gifted 21-year-old, with Jose Mourinho keen to build a side for the future and sign a powerful player to complement the likes of Cesc Fabregas and Nemanja Matic in the middle of the park.

Pogba would no doubt be a big hit at Stamford Bridge, and could be tempted to work and improve his game under Blues manager Jose Mourinho, who is known for getting talented players to raise their performance levels under his guidance.

Arsenal may be the other main contenders to sign Pogba, with recent rumours suggesting that Arsene Wenger could use a sizeable chunk of his £170m transfer war chest on the Serie A sensation, who is comparible with Manchester City star Yaya Toure in terms of his playing style.

Meanwhile, it could be that Toure himself will be lined up as Pogba’s replacement at Juventus, with speculation that the Italian giants are eyeing a £30m January bid for the Ivory Coast international, whilst also being linked today with Manchester United wonderkid Adnan Januzaj.

These ambitious deals will need funding, and that could suggest that Pogba will be on his way out of the club in a big-money deal in the near future, with Chelsea hoping to be the ones ready to snap him up.
