There were fears that the cruciate ligament injury that the Colombian suffered at AS Monaco last season could scupper the striker’s move to Manchester, but he passed his medical and made the switch to United on a one year loan deal.

Falcao made his first appearance for the club in their demolition of QPR, and will be looking to earn his first start on Sunday against Leicester City.

The former Atletico Madrid man apparently has high hopes of making the move permenant at the end of the season, with United having the option available for somewhere in the region of £50m. If he suffers a recurrence of his previous knee injury however, South American could see himself straight back on a plane to France.
