Aston Villa, Hull City and Stoke City all tracking Darren Fletcher.

Manchester United’s experienced central midfielder Darren Fletcher faces a fight to secure his Old Trafford future, report the Mirror, with a trio of Premier League suitors waiting in the wings if the Scotland captain is forced out of the United team by their smorgasbord of expensive summer captures.

Fletcher has been a regular in the United first team throughout much of the club’s disappointing start to the season – but the performances of Daley Blind, Ander Herrera and Angel di Maria in central positions during their 4-0 win over Queens Park Rangers last weekend could be a precursor for things to come, with Fletcher potentially forced out of the team.

If this does come to pass then three sides are lining up to offer Fletcher a new home in the shape of Aston Villa, Hull City and Stoke City, all of whom would be interested in Fletcher’s services should he became available according to the Mirror’s report.

Players who have the Premier League experience of Fletcher do not become available regularly, which would explain the significant interest in Fletcher, who has battled back from a serious illness to become a part of the United squad once again.

His future is likely to become more clear in the coming weeks, as van Gaal must decide whether there is a place for Fletcher’s grit and experience within his squad of superstars.
