Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has long been linked with an interest in PSG forward Edinson Cavani and recent comments about the Uruguayan will leave many in no doubt as to the likelihood of a bid for his services.

The Daily Express reports on comments made by the Gunners boss prior to PSG’s draw with Lyon on Sunday.

“I really like the player, I like his attitude, but I think he plays a bit with the hand brake on.

“I feel that he is not expressing himself fully.

“At the same time, it’s true Ibrahimovic has taken such a prominent place at PSG. There is little room for another attacker around him.

“We keep saying that it will come, it will come naturally, but it does not feel like he has completely blossomed.

“I hope it will come for him.”

Such comments will not have gone unnoticed by the player, or indeed PSG, and could well be the prelude to a summer bid for the marksman, who cost the big spending Ligue 1 side £55m last summer.

Some may well feel that Arsenal need to bring in another central striking option, not least because of Olivier Giroud’s injury concerns, though one imagines PSG would demand the north London side smash their transfer record fee to have any chance of luring the former Napoli man away from the Parc des Princes side.

Though Cavani is said to be unsettled in the French capital it’s worth noting that he has scored regularly since moving to Paris, netting 28 goals in 48 appearances for the club. This follows a superb three season spell in Naples where he racked up 104 goals for the Serie A side.
