The 22 year old Spanish international has become something of a bit part player at the Bernabeu following the summer acquisition of Colombian star James Rodriguez and Pellegrini is readying a big money bid for his services.

Real Madrid signed Isco in June 2013 for a fee of £23m and though considered one of the hottest prospects in Spanish football it appears Carlo Ancelotti doesn’t see the crafty attacking midfielder as a first team regular.

In his first campaign at the Bernabeu Isco started 23 of Real Madrid’s 38 La Liga fixtures but was hauled off on no less than 13 occasions and has started just one domestic league fixture thus far this season.

Pellegrini brought in Frank Lampard on loan from MLS side New York City FC but the former Chelsea veteran will leave the club in January, leaving room for Isco’s arrival.

Isco rose to prominence under Pellegrini and the Man City boss has made his interest in acquiring the youngster known during previous transfer windows but may feel January is the ideal time to try his hand once more.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has conducted a hefty level of transfer spending of late, the La Liga side forking out upwards of £210m on new players over the past 18 months, and a good offer for Isco could well be considered.

Though Isco has stated his desire to fight for his place in Ancelotti’s first team plans if by January he is no nearer to a regular starting eleven berth then a move to the Premier League title holder’s will become all the more attractive.

Isco has proven fairly effective when called upon by Ancelotti, racking up 11 goals and ten assists in 59 appearances in all competitions.
