The Chilean enforcer has been struggling with a knee injury for the past few months and only managed to play 14 minutes of Juve’s 1-0 win against AC Milan at the weekend.

“Vidal is not 100% and needs minutes under his belt. I’ll have to balance his work alongside the team and game time,” Allegri said at a press conference.

Manchester United were reportedly interested in signing Vidal during the summer but didn’t submit a bid in the end because of Vidal’s injury problems.

Reports suggest that United may make another move for Vidal during the January transfer window but will only do so if the midfielder has proved that he is fully fit and his knee is no longer a problem.

Juventus and their rivals AS Roma have both won all three of their games so far this season but despite this, Allegri is refusing to rule out other possible rivals for the Serie A title including Napoli and Inter Milan.

“It’s too early to talk about a two-horse race between Juve and Roma. It will be a closely fought league.”
