Sandro decided to slide on dry ground.

It’s unlikely QPR manager Harry Redknapp is very impressed after his new £10m signing Sandro has injured his knee in training.

Although injuries outside of matches are common, the fact the Brazilian suffered this problem whilst celebrating a goal will not please Redknapp.

“Sandro injured his knee after scoring a goal in training and sliding on the dry ground celebrating,” the 67-year-old was quoted by ITV.

The 25-year-old arrived at Loftus Road from Tottenham Hotspur on transfer deadline day this summer – a club where he had previously worked under the guidance of Redknapp.

Sandro made 106 appearances for Spurs during his four years with the club, but has played just once for the Hoops since his move – the 4-0 Premier League defeat to Manchester United.

The Brazil international’s injury has given Redknapp a selection headache, with fellow midfielders Joey Barton and Jordan Mutch also currently sidelined and the boss is also unsure about when the South American will return to full fitness.

The West London club face a tough task to maintain their top flight status after being promoted from the Championship last season.

So far Redknapp’s men have four points from their five league matches, losing three times, drawing once and winning once and many think the R’s will be one of the three clubs to be relegated in 2014/15.
