Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Diego Costa will start for Chelsea against Aston Villa tomorrow, but has said that he may not be able to play against Sporting  Lisbon in midweek.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of the Premier League fixture, Mourinho has admitted that he doesn’t know whether Costa will be fit to play on Tuesday after only two days break. Mourinho said last week that Costa’s hamstring problem prevented him from playing three games a week, which is why he did not feature in the 1-1 draw with Schalke.

In that game, Costa’s importance to this Chelsea team was made abundantly clear. Chelsea reverted to their form of last season, creating chances but not being able to finish them. Chelsea’s clash with Sporting on Tuesday has been made all the more important by that disappointing result, and Chelsea fans will be hoping that Costa’s hamstring problems are sorted sooner rather than later to allow them to compete on both fronts.
