Reds working on deal to sign Frenchman next summer.Liverpool have received a boost in their efforts to sign Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema next summer, according to the Metro.
The Reds are known to be on the lookout for new signings upfront as they still look for top-class replacements for Luis Suarez, who left Anfield in a £75m move to Barcelona in this summer’s transfer window.
Mario Balotelli joined the club from AC Milan, but has struggled so far with just one goal in four appearances, and Benzema is reportedly Brendan Rodgers’ top target to come in and improve the team’s options in attack.
Benzema has been a terrific servant to Real during his five years with the club, establishing himself as one of the best centre-forward players in the world with a superb goalscoring record at the Bernabeu.
The French international has attracted interest from other top clubs in the past, and it is thought that Paris Saint-Germain would provide strong competition for his signature as he ponders an exit from the club after becoming unhappy in Madrid.
There’s no doubt Liverpool would benefit from his arrival, with the club seemingly struggling after Suarez’s departure with worse results so far this season.
