Manuel Pellegrini says that he remains on good terms with James Milner, despite the England midfielder’s comments about wanting more game-time.

“I think that what James Milner said is what every football player will say. All the players want to play more games… I don’t think we are going to have any problems about that.” Milner’s contract runs out next summer and yesterday he refused to commit his future to the club, telling the Mirror, “when you are not playing, it is frustrating”.

Milner only started 12 Premier League games last season, and the arrival of Fernando form Porto looked likely to limit his game-time further. However he has started three of four of City’s most recent games, and was man of the match against Chelsea, assisting Frank Lampard’s late goal.

With Samir Nasri currently injured, Milner is likely to play this weekend, although Jesus Navas has a chance after his blistering midweek League Cup performance.
