Chelsea are readying a cash-plus-player offer to sign Everton starlet Ross Barkley in the January transfer window, with Mohamed Salah to be offered to the Toffees.

The Egyptian winger has not managed to establish himself as a regular at Stamford Bridge since joining the Blues from Swiss side FC Basel earlier this year, though he remains a highly regarded young talent.
Still, Chelsea are determined to beat the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal to the signing of the immensely gifted Barkley, who is widely regarded as one of the best young English players at the moment.
The 20-year-old enjoyed his first-team breakthrough last season, and is now attracting interest from a number of top Premier League clubs, though Chelsea will now hope to move ahead of their rivals in the race for his signature.
Salah could now be the player used as a makeweight for the deal, with the exciting wide-man linked with a number of other big clubs before he eventually made the move to Chelsea, and he could prove a tempting option for Everton as they look to replace the impact of the skillful attacker Barkley.
The Toffees already have Christian Atsu on loan from Stamford Bridge, but the Ghanian international has not managed to impress in his time at Goodison Park so far, and may not be enough to push through a deal that would see the club let their prized asset leave.
It has previously been suggested that Barkley is valued at around £50m, but Chelsea hope that a deal with Salah involved as well could see them offer closer to £34m in cash, as well as various performance-based add-ons in the future.
