The 35-year-old, widely regarded as one of the finest midfield playmakers of his generation, has only recently signed a new two-year contract in Turin, but is possibly set for an early exit from the club as a call from the MLS beckons.

A number of big names have made the move to US soccer in recent times, with David Beckham being the first high-profile player to do so when he joined LA Galaxy from Real Madrid back in 2007.

Pirlo could be next to make the same move, as Galaxy eye him as the ideal replacement for the recently-retired Landon Donovan in midfield, though Pirlo has recently been quoted as saying he is happy in Italy after an entire career in his home country.

The classy midfield maestro has also played for AC Milan and Inter Milan in a glittering career, and remains a key player for Juve after helping them to three title wins in a row in Serie A.

Still, Galaxy coach Bruce Arena is quoted as saying: “We are interested in players of his calibre.”
