The Spanish giants are said to be tracking the 19 year old and this has led to the Anfield outfit pushing to get the England man to sign a new deal that would be worth in excess of £100k a week to the England international.

Sterling has more than three years to run on his current contract but Brendan Rodgers is keen to reward the winger’s top displays with a deal that brings him in line with the club’s top earners.

Despite being months shy of his 20th birthday Sterling is into his fourth season in the Liverpool first team set-up and has almost 100 appearances for club and country under his belt.

Liverpool paid QPR £600k for Sterling back in February 2010.
