The agent of Marseille striker Andre-Pierre Gignac has said that his player would be a perfect fit for either Arsenal or Liverpool next summer after recent links with both clubs arising over the past week, Sky Sports reports.

The 29-year-old has been in fantastic form so far this season, bagging eight goals in as many games to see Marseille climb to the top of the Ligue 1 table.

The Gunners are still thought to be keen on bolstering their strikeforce due to Olivier Giroud’s continuing injury problems, and with the Reds struggling for goals in the early stages of the season, a move for a proven goalscorer like Gignac could be an option for boss Brendan Rodgers.

Gignac has entered the final year of his contract at the Stade Velodrome, and with the club looking to cut the wage bill he could very well be sacrificed at the end of the season.

And his agent is already working on sorting out the striker’s future by talking up moves to the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool, both of whom have been linked with him this week.

“Given the fact that he is not very old, he has a real market value,” agent Christopher Hutteau said.

“This is a striker with a relatively atypical profile, responsive to the physical challenge, the archetypal player who can succeed at a big club.

“He can play in England, Arsenal or Liverpool , no problem. For me, it is between €12million (£9.5m) and €15million (£11m).”
