Edinson Cavani has struggled at PSG since he moved to the club last summer.

Former Paris St Germain goalkeeper Jerome Alonzo has claimed that striker Edinson Cavani is unhappy at the French champions because he is behind Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the club’s priorities, the Daily Star reports.

The Uruguay international moved to the Parc des Princes last summer for £55.6 million but has struggled to flourish during his first year at the club as he often has to play around the former Juventus hit-man.

Although Cavani started in PSG’s 3-2 victory over Barcelona last night, Alonzo feels that the player is unhappy with life in the French capital.

Writing in French paper Le Parisien, the ex-player said: “We no longer recognize Cavani. He looks sad, his eyes no longer sparkle.

“With Cavani before, Paris can score a fourth goal late in the game. But his game is stereotyped.”

Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for Cavani recently, especially after Arsene Wenger commented on what a talented player the former Napoli striker is.

“I love him as a player,” he said on TF1. “I love the Matador’s attitude on the field. But I think he’s playing a little with the brake pulled up.

“I think at PSG is he not able to give his best, perhaps because of the presence of Ibrahimovic. He is able to influence at all levels in a team and there is little room for an attacker around him.”

Manchester United and Liverpool are also reportedly interested in the 27 year old.
