The Portuguese club signed Nani on a season long loan in August and allowed defender Marcos Rojo to move to Old Trafford as part of the deal.

Despite playing for Lisbon, Nani’s wages are being paid in full by the Red Devils and after participating in the Champions League clash against Chelsea on Tuesday night, the Portuguese international admits he doesn’t know what his long term future holds.

I don’t know [if I will go back],” he told reporters. “At the moment I just want to enjoy the football, I want to play, I want to be at my best and then let’s see what happens in the future.

“But at the moment I am a Manchester United player, so I’m just here to get back to my best.”

Nani was one of several players who left Old Trafford this summer as new manager Louis van Gaal looked to completely re-shape his squad following a disastrous 2013/2014 campaign where under David Moyes, United only managed to finish 7th in the Premier League table.
