Arsene Wenger’s side suffered a limp defeat in their opening group match away at Borussia Dortmund and could not afford anything other than a win against Turkish opposition and thanks to some fairly poor defending the north London side had little problem overcoming their visitors.

Following good work from Alexis Sanchez, who combined well with Danny Welbeck throughout, the former Man United man fired home his first of the night after 22 minutes.

Eight minutes later and Welbeck had double Arsenal’s lead as he powered past a static defence before firing home with ease.

The game was over as a contest four minutes before the break when Mesut Ozil fed Alexis Sanchez who calmly slotted home his first Champions League group stage goal in two years.

The second half was barely five minutes old when Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain provided a precision assist for Danny Welbeck to tidily dink over the advancing keeper to collect his hat-trick and provide Arsenal an unassailable four goal lead.

Wojciech Szczesny was then rightly sent off for bringing down Burak Yilmaz who duly fired home the spot-kick to provide Galatasaray a consolation goal.
