The Daily Mirror believe that Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea are all interested in the German World Cup winner, who has struggled to hold down a place with the European Champions so far this season.

Madrid understand that Khedira is highly unlikely sign a new contract, and could agree to a sale at the turn of the year to ensure they gain at least a small transfer fee.

After a summer of speculation, Khedira returned to Madrid for the team picture last month, before a hamstring injury place him back on the sidelines. He has refused to discuss his future and the club fear he has made up his mind to leave.

Arsenal were keen on him earlier this year, but were put off by his huge wage demands of around £200,000-a-week together in combination with his poor recent injury record.

However, the North Londoners remain keen on bringing in a defensive midfielder and successor to captain Mikel Arteta, with recent injuries placing further emphasis on their need for a specialist anchorman.
