Arsenal’s £55m Striker Target Tipped For PSG Exit By Club Legend

South American attacker could be available in January.

Former Paris Saint Germain favourite Jerome Rothen has admitted that he expects Arsenal transfer target Edinson Cavani to leave the French champions before too long.

Despite acquiring the services of £16m England forward Danny Welbeck from Manchester United at the start of last month, the Gunners continue to be linked with new attacking recruits.

The Daily Star recently reported that Arsenal were leading a £55m race for Cavani, who is said to be unsettled at the Parc des Princes.

Cavani is apparently unhappy at being played out wide to accommodate the needs of Swedish superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Rothen believes that Cavani has the ability to be a success in Paris, but he reckons the Uruguay international will be on the move in the near future.

“He can still succeed in Paris, but his performances will be more or less the same,” Rothen told Le 10 Sport.

“Everything depends on the tactical choices of Laurent Blanc. However, I can’t see him staying long-term in Paris.”

Cavani has just under four years left to run on his current contract with PSG.

He has played eight Ligue 1 games this season, mostly from the left flank, scoring three goals.

The 27-year-old has also netted once in two Champions League outings.

Liverpool and Man United have also been linked with interest in Cavani in the past few weeks.
