Arsenal could be set to revive their interest in Schalke starlet Julian Draxler after sending scouts to watch him in the Champions League this week, according to the Daily Mirror.

The 21-year-old has been linked with the Gunners several times in the past, and is on Arsene Wenger’s radar again after the Frenchman had scouts watch his performance against Maribor in Schalke’s midweek game.

Although Arsenal already have plenty of options in the attacking midfield department, it could be that Wenger is considering a move to sign Draxler as a replacement for the under-performing Mesut Ozil, who has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich.

Arsenal have shown increased ambition in the transfer market in recent times, signing the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Danny Welbeck this summer to improve their squad and build on their FA Cup win last season.

Draxler is one of the most highly rated young players in European football and would mark another significant high-profile purchase for the north London club, though he is another signing who is unlikely to come cheap for the club.

It is also reported that Arsenal have been scouting promising Dinamo Zagreb youngster Marcelo Brozovic.
