Arsenal keeper Wojciech Szczesny has admitted that his team deserved to lose to Chelsea on Sunday, and has attributed his team’s loss to the “brilliance” of the Chelsea team they were facing.

Speaking to reporters, Szczesny said “I thought it was a very even game but Chelsea have an ability to keep clean sheets at home and I thought they were very good, they took their chances with two brilliant moments.”

While Arsenal’s performance was certainly a step up from last year’s 6-0 defeat, many Gunners fans will be unhappy to see their keeper accepting a loss so meekly.

They might also wonder why the goalkeeper considers Arsenal’s start “solid”, given they have only gained ten points from their opening seven games.

Arsenal started well against Chelsea and created more chances than the Blues, until Hazard’s brilliant run changed the game. They now lie nine points adrift of the league-leaders.
