Both players had been linked with Manchester United while Chelsea were thought to be preparing a lucrative contract offer for Pogba.

While Marotta refuses to name the interested clubs, he does confirm that bids were submitted for the pair.

“Yes, absolutely, some offers arrived from abroad, from top European clubs,” he told Processo del Lunedi. “But we decided not to indulge them.

“We were in a position not to accept and we did with great awareness of the fact that we are talking about two very important components of our squad.”

Manchester United were heavily linked with a move for Vidal throughout the summer, with manager Louis van Gaal looking to bolster his midfield with the Chilean. Although the Dutchman wasn’t able to land his man, reports suggest he could make a move for the midfielder in January.

Pogba is one of the most in demand midfielders in Europe and has attracted the interest of Real Madrid as well as Chelsea and United.
