Reds to make offer for in-demand Newcastle United star.
Liverpool are thought to be closing in on Newcastle United midfielder Cheick Tiote and will make an offer of £15.5m in order to land his signature, the Metro reports.

Tiote has made it clear that he wants out of Newcastle in the January transfer window and despite strong links with Arsenal, Liverpool are now the front runners.
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is believed to be in the market for a more defensive minded midfield player that will be able to help protect the back four and provide them with more cover.
Liverpool are thought to have a £15m bid up their sleeve ready to go in, but Newcastle are reportedly holding out for something closer to £20m.
However, with him determined to earn himself a move away from St James’ Park in the new year, they may take the discounted offer and reinvest the cash into another area of the squad as they look to improve upon their own poor start to the season.
