The former England international will oversee the structure of the football club and will help them improve their football philosophy at all levels.
Harry Redknapp will hope that Ferdinand’s presence at the club will help his side hit a run of good form after a poor start to the season.
The newly promoted side have only won one of their seven Premier League matches so far and have been on the end of 4-0 thrashings against Manchester United and Tottenham.
