The 32 year old is recovering from a lengthy knee injury but is now close to full fitness and the Anfield side will look to put the World Cup winner through his paces before snapping up the experienced custodian.

Valdes left Barcelona in the summer and is set to be handed a two year deal by Liverpool, with boss Brendan Rodgers looking to bring in a quality keeper to keep current first choice starter Simon Mignolet on his toes.

Liverpool will look to complete extensive medical tests over the international break and should have Valdes in place before their next game, against QPR on October 19th.

Victor Valdes is a proven talent who spent 12 seasons in the Nou Camp first team set-up, racking 535 appearances for the Catalan giants and winning numerous major honours including six La Liga titles and three Champions League crowns.

One would imagine there is every chance Valdes would go one better than simply challenging Mignolet for the starting berth with the talented keeper certainly every bit as good, indeed better, than the Belgian.
