The Frenchman already spent £70 million over the summer bringing in Calum Chambers, Mathieu Debuchy, David Opsina, Danny Welbeck and Alexis Sanchez but he still feels he needs more quality in his squad after being easily defeated by Premier League leaders Chelsea at the weekend.

The Gunners main target appears to be German international Sami Khedira, who is desperate to leave Real Madrid and has made the Emirates his preferred destination.

While Arsenal have agreed personal terms with the midfielder, they still need to agree a fee with Los Blancos, although with the World Cup winner set to be out of contract in the summer, the Champions League holders are desperate to cash-in on him now so agreeing a deal with Real shouldn’t be to much of a problem.

Wenger has also entered the race to sign Brazilian sensation Anderson Talisca, who has been the driving force behind Benfica’s unbeaten start to the season.

The 20-year-old has scored six goals in seven games for the Portuguese club and has a buy-out fee set at £18 million.

Finally, the former Monaco boss will also reignite his interest in Schalke starlet Julian Draxler, who was linked with a move to the Emirates last season but was then considered too pricey by Wenger.

However, it appears that the 64-year-old may now be ready to pay the youngsters £37 million buy-out clause.
