The Gunners playmaker has reported pain in his left knee.
The German football federation has confirmed that Arsenal’s struggling star Mesut Ozil has travelled to Munich today to have a scan on a knee problem, via their official website.
He arrived at the German national team’s training camp with complaints of a left knee injury and has missed this morning’s training.
Ozil has yet to find his best form this season, despite some promising moments, and Arsenal fans will hope that this can be attributed in part to problems with this injury.
Germany have a wealth of attacking options to replace the former Madrid star, with players like Mario Gotze and Andre Schurrle able to fill in capably. Dortmund attacker Marco Reus is also on the verge of returning from a long term injury.
Arsenal also have plenty of cover for Ozil, with Santi Cazorla likely to take his place. It will be interesting to see how Arsenal perform without their marquee signing, as there have been increasing calls for him to be dropped as his poor form continues.
While this injury doesn’t seem too serious, if he is ruled out for any period of time reclaiming his first team spot may become difficult.
