The Football Association of Wales named Real Madrid playmaker Gareth Bale as their Player of the Year for the fourth time earlier this week.

Former Tottenham Hotspur star Bale enjoyed an outstanding debut season in Spain.

The Cardiff-born 25-year-old scored a mesmeric winning goal against Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final in April, before finding the net in the 4-1 Champions League final victory of Atletico Madrid a month later.

To date, Bale has scored 27 goals in 53 games for Real.

He has also netted three times in his last two matches for Wales.

Aaron Ramsey was also thought to be in the running for the award.

The 23-year-old central midfielder, who is currently injured, has scored 14 goals and provided 10 assists in his last 36 games in the Premier League and Champions League.

Bale used Instagram to show off his new award on Wednesday. He has now won it four times, more than any other player ever.
