Koscielny won’t play in France’s upcoming fixtures.

Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny has pulled out of the France squad to play Portugal on Saturday and Armenia on Tuesday.

However, it will not be welcomed news for Arsene Wenger and Gunners fans alike with there already being something of an injury crisis at the Emirates Stadium.

Wednesday’s news that Mesut Ozil will be out for three months was just the latest in an ever increasing list for Wenger of players that are unavailable due to fitness concerns.

Koscielny and Ozil join captain Mikel Arteta, Mathieu Debuchy, Olivier Giroud, Serge Gnabry, Nacho Monreal, Aaron Ramsey, Yaya Sanogo and Theo Walcott on the absentee list.

With Calum Chambers also suspended for the North Londoners’ next Premier League clash after the international break with Hull City, Per Mertesacker will be the only available first team centre-back should the Frenchman not be ready to play.

Koscielny has been in fine form for the club in recent times and is widely regarded as one of the best central defenders in the English top tier.
