The Daily Mirror claim that Serie A side Inter Milan are readying a move for expensive flop forward Roberto Soldado, a move that will pave the way for the north London side to land Schalke ace Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.

Inter Milan would like to bring in 29 year old Spaniard Soldado but one imagines their chances of doing so depend squarely on just how much they are willing to pay for a player who cost Spurs £26m just over a year ago.

Soldado racked up just six Premier League goals in his debut season in the English top tier, four of which were from the spot, and hasn’t started a domestic league game under Pochettino.

The potential sale of the former Valencia man would then lead Pochettino to make an offer for experienced Dutch goal machine Huntelaar, who is out of contract next summer and therefore available ‘on the cheap’ when the transfer window reopens.

The former Ajax man endured a tough time of it at Real Madrid and AC Milan, with neither side showing much faith in his abilities, but Huntelaar has certainly got his career back on track in Germany.

The lethal finisher has bagged a very healthy total of 95 goals in 146 appearances for Schalke but could be ready for a fresh challenge.
