The 26 year old New Zealand international is into the final year of his current Upton Park contract and looks likely to leave the east London club with no shortage of interest in his services after a solid series of displays over the past 18 months.

Reid was named West Ham’s Player of the Year in 2013 and Brendan Rodgers clearly sees the Kiwi as the man to steady his leaky defence.

Rodgers spent £20m on Southampton’s Dejan Lovren over the summer and though the Croatian hasn’t exactly impressed thus far this term it would appear he is safe from any potential sale to accommodate Reid whereas the same may not be true of Martin Skrtel and Mamadou Sakho.

Having spent huge sums over the summer one would imagine Liverpool’s board would welcome the cost effective capture of Reid on a free transfer deal at the end of the season though one imagines the Hammers star could change his mind about a move to Merseyside if Rodgers hasn’t secured a Champions League berth for 2015/16.
