Adrien Rabiot’s agent has already spoken to Serie A side.

Arsenal could be left frustrated in their chase for talented young midfielder Adrien Rabiot from Paris Saint Germain, report the Express, as representatives of Serie A runners-up AS Roma have already held talks with the player’s agent in an attempt to steal a march on the Gunners in the race for the talented Frenchman.

The Gunners are believed to have targeted Rabiot as a potential signing on a free transfer at the end of the season once his deal at the Parc des Princes runs out, but Roma could well be willing to pay for a January deal – particularly if Manchester United are able to secure a move for Roma’s highly rated playmaker Kevin Strootman.

Having identified Rabiot and begun drawing up plans to bring him to the Emirates Stadium, however, manager Arsene Wenger is likely to be left frustrated by Roma’s intervention and the fact that Serie A now looks like a more likely destination for the youngster than the Premier League.

Rabiot is known as one of PSG’s most exciting young players currently, but has turned down the offer of a new contract due to concerns about first team football, with the likes of Blaise Matuidi, Marco Verratti and Yohan Cabaye standing between Rabiot and a regular place in Laurent Blanc’s side.
