The Corinthians defender Gil has gone on record to say he believes fellow countryman Neymar is a better player than Argentine star Messi.
Lionel Messi and Neymar are undoubtedly two of the best players on the planet, but the argument over who is better is proving to be a thorny subject in Brazil.

The latest player to wade into the debate is 27-year-old Corinthians central defender Gil. Despite admitting that he has never played against the Argentine, he firmly believes Neymar is the better player – a fact he was quick to point out in a recent ESPN interview.
“With Neymar we are talking about a complete player who gets involved with the team’s play, shoots well with both feet and is very fast”, he said.“I honestly think he is a more complete player than Messi.”
The war of words is set to continue for a few more days, with Brazil playing Argentina in a friendly match in Beijing on Saturday. Gil could play some part in the match, after making his international debut under new Brazil manager Dunga last month.
