Spurs on the trail of in-form forward Saido Berahino.

Tottenham Hotspur are ready to move for £15 million rated West Bromwich Albion forward Saido Berahino, report the Sun, after an explosive start to the season from the Burundi-born striker has seen him banging in the goals both for the Baggies and the England Under 21 side.

Berahino has emerged from the youth system at The Hawthorns and is threatening to become the most talented player produced by the club in a generation, having successfully made the transition from loan spells with Northampton Town, Peterborough United and Brentford to the club’s first team.

Despite a falling out with teammate James Morrison at the end of last season, new manager Alan Irvine has put his faith in Berahino and made him a key part of his team, being rewarded by the youngster – who has more goals than any other striker in the Premier League apart from Chelsea star Diego Costa.

With neither Roberto Soldado nor Emmanuel Adebayor in great form and Berahino’s Under 21 teammate Harry Kane yet to fully make the breakthrough, Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino is believed to be interested in signing a striker and the club have now identified Berahino as their key target.

West Brom are extremely unlikely to want to part with their most exciting asset, however, and it will require a bid in the region of £15m for them to consider selling the player who moved closer to England’s all-time Under 21 goalscoring record with a late penalty in this evening’s win over Croatia at Molineux.
