The Aston Villa assistant manager feels his former club aren’t good enough defensively.

Roy Keane has said that his former side Manchester United are still “years away” from winning a major trophy, Goal.com reports.

The Red Devils spent nearly £150 million during the summer, bringing in quality attacking players like Angel Di Maria and Radamel Falcao.

Although Keane believes United will win a lot of games because of the attacking talent at their disposal, he thinks they will struggle to win titles regularly again because of their weak defence.

“It’s been a bit better these last few weeks,” Keane said in an interview with BBC’s ‘Football Focus’.

“Clearly they are going to win lots of football matches because they’ve got lots of goals in their team now. Going forward, the players they have available – amazing.

“But, in terms of winning the bigger prizes again – the Premier League and Champions League – I think that might be a few years down the road yet. Only in a sense that defensively they look to rebuild.

“You can win football matches going forward, with lots of goals, but I think at the back with the lack of experience, and injuries problems at the moment, it will be very hard to win titles.”

United currently sit fourth in the Premier League table after beating Everton 2-1 last weekend and will take on West Bromwich Albion in their first match after the international break.
