The German international has been heavily linked with a move to the Gunners recently with the player himself stating that he would be interested in linking up with Arsene Wenger’s side.

The playmaker has developed into one of the most talented young players in the world and it is thought that Schalke won’t be able to hold onto him for much longer.

Di Matteo’s biggest challenge will be trying to form a strong bond with Draxler which could possibly deter the starlet from leaving.

The German international didn’t have a good relationship with Schalke’s last coach, Jens Keller, who routinely criticised his star player in public.

Draxler has so far scored one goal in five games in the Bundesliga this season. He missed two games through suspension after being sent off in Schalke’s 2-2 draw against Frankfurt in September.
