The veteran goalkeeper has been out of form recently.

Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas will start in El Clasico against Barcelona on October 25th but one mistake could result in him being dropped to the bench for Los Blancos subsequent games, Marca reports.

The veteran goalkeeper has been heavily criticised by his own fans this season following a series of uncharacteristic mistakes and he was also dropped from Spain’s Euro 2016 qualifier against Luxembourg following an error in their previous game against Slovakia.

Real manager Carlo Ancelotti has tried to back the Spanish shot stopper, who was regarded as the best goalkeeper in world football a few years ago.

After battling Diego Lopez for the number one slot in Ancelotti’s team last season, everything seemed set up for Casillas to return to form this term after the former Sevilla keeper was sold to AC Milan during the summer.

However, that hasn’t happened and there is a real danger that the 33-year-old could be dropped if he makes many more mistakes.

Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for Casillas and could try to sign him in January if things don’t go according to plan at Real.
