Sami Khedira All Set To Sign For Chelsea, With Real Madrid Signing Brazilian Replacement

Khedira’s transfer saga rumbles on as his contract ticks down to its conclusion in June…

Spanish paper Marca is linking Cruzeiro midfielder Lucas Silva with Real Madrid, on the assumption that Sami Khedira is on his way out of the club.

Brazilian midfielder Silva has starred for table-topping Cruzeiro for the last two seasons and has been linked with a host of big European clubs, but it looks as thought it is the biggest of all that will land the box-to-box midfielder.

Silva, who Marca describe as the “powerhouse behind Brazil’s victory” at the Toulon Tournament, would be an ideal replacement for Khedira. Who Marca are certain is on the way out:

“Khedira’s future is looking increasingly shaky with no contract renewal in sight and 30th June drawing ever closer.”

Chelsea manager José Mourinho signed Khedira for Real Madrid and is apparently looking to strengthen his midfield with the German, while Arsenal are in desperate need of cover in that position.

Both clubs will want to sign the player on a free in the summer, but will be aware that they could be trumped at any moment by a bid in January. Real are likely to accept even a small offer as they look to recoup some fee for the midfielder. With seemingly half of the Champions League clubs looking enviously at Khedira, Real Madrid will be rubbing their hands at the prospect of an unexpected bidding war for a player whose contract has almost expired.
