Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has praised one of Manchester United’s newest signings, Daley Blind.

Blind was one of several players who moved to Old Trafford during the summer, but unlike big name arrivals like Angel di Maria and Radamel Falcao, his name hasn’t been in the headlines despite an impressive start to the season at the heart of United’s midfield.
While other players have stolen the limelight, Carragher has choosen to praise the Dutch midfielder and feels he could become a similar player to Chelsea’s Nemanja Matic.
“The bigger tests will come when United take on Chelsea, Man City, Arsenal and Liverpool over the next month or two, but Blind has looked very neat and tidy with the ball so far,” the former Red told Sky Sports.
“He has been brought into the team to do the role Nemanja Matic does so well as Chelsea – sit deep and offer protection to the attacking players in front of him – and you can see he is a clever footballer.
“He is able to play in a number of positions and never seems fazed or overawed by anything, while he is a very athletic player as well so can get up and down the pitch if needs be.
“Blind looks like a very good signing, especially at around £14million.”
Blind has started every game for the Red Devils since his move from Ajax and will be expected to be in Louis van Gaal’s first team for the game against West Bromwich Albion on Monday night.
