Reports have suggested recently that United are set to launch a £25m bid for the Bosnian playmaker to Old Trafford in the new year.
The 24-year-old has blossomed into one of the world’s best midfield talents at Roma after moving from Lyon in 2011.
And though the Bosnia international admits that he had the chance to leave the club over the summer, he has insisted that he is more than happy to stay put in the Italian capital.
“Football has changed and at times the clubs need money, it’s not always the player who wants to leave.
“I had the opportunity to leave, but I feel so good here that I ask myself why should I leave Roma?
“Why should I leave when I love this team, I love this city and I want to win here?”
