Maverick Italian striker Mario Balotelli knows that he has to put his foolish antics behind him under new boss Brendan Rodgers, talkSPORT reports.

The 24-year-old forward moved to Anfield from AC Milan for a £16m fee in August, and although many believed Liverpool to have secured a serious bargain, Balotelli has yet to bag a Premier League goal for his new club.

As a result, he was dropped for Liverpool’s latest Premier League match, a 2-1 victory over West Brom.

Despite this, Balotelli has had nothing but positive words to describe his manager, claiming that the Northern Irishman will improve his as footballer.

“He is very good, a strong character,” Balotelli told Sport magazine.

“And I think that comes out in the way the team plays. I think he can help me improve as a player. He is very open, everybody can talk to him – but first he looks at the person, and second he looks at the footballer. With Brendan, you need to be a good person – you don’t have to be, how do you say it, a dickhead.”

While many football fans will claim that this totally rules out Balotelli’s chances of Anfield success, Reds supporters will be pleased with the attitude their new forward is (trying) to display.
