The Blues are one of several clubs thought to be chasing the Colombian international, who stood out as one of the most impressive players in Serie A last season, as well as proving a hit for his country at this summer’s World Cup.

United were looking the frontrunners to sign him during the summer, though a move never materialised, and it now looks as though Chelsea are ready to enter the running to snap him up this winter as he looks set to agree a new contract to lower his release clause to just £31.7m.

Although Jose Mourinho already has plenty of attacking midfield options in his squad, the Portuguese coach is thought to be a big fan of the 26-year-old wide-man, and wants to beat his rivals to his signature in the next transfer window as he is available for such a reasonable price.

It remains to be seen where Cuadrado will choose to move to, but it is expected that he will leave Italy despite his likely contract extension with the Serie A side.
