The World Cup winner, currently out injured, is known to be unsettled at the Emirates Stadium after being bashed by critics for some continued poor form, and it is now thought that he could be on his way out of the club in the near future.

Bayern Munich have also been linked with the 26-year-old, who has largely disappointed since his club-record £42.5m move to Arsenal from Real Madrid last summer.

Still regarded as a potentially world class talent, Ozil is now on City’s radar as the Premier League champions look to raid the Gunners again after signing other big names such as Samir Nasri, Gael Clichy and Bacary Sagna from their rivals in recent years.

It remains to be seen if £32m will be enough to persuade Arsenal to sell the under-performing attacker, particularly as it may be hard to find a suitable replacement in the middle of the season, despite links to some big names such as Schalke starlet Julian Draxler and others.
