The Argentine joined the Premier League champions from Atletico Madrid in a £38m move back in 2011, and has since been one of the best players in the country with continued superb displays in front of goal.

Aguero’s first goal today against Spurs was a well-taken half-volleyed effort into the far corner, showing all the predatory instincts and superb technique that have seen him become regarded as one of the best centre-forwards in world football.

The 26-year-old then netted from the penalty spot to make it 2-1, showing plenty of composure from the spot to move him ahead of Tevez and make Premier League history for City.

Aguero has a particularly good scoring record against Tottenham, and his brace today makes it an incredible five goals in his last three matches against the north London side, who will be sick of the sight of him by now.

City beat Spurs in both games in the Premier League last season and look on course for three points this afternoon.
