The in-form French international, who is the top-scorer in Ligue 1 this term having already netted ten times, has turned down the offer of a new Marseille contract and will be available on a free transfer next summer.

The 28 year old has previously hinted at an interest in a move to the Premier League and Arsene Wenger is said to be keen on acquiring the former Lorient man.

Whilst Arsenal spent over £50m to bring in attackers Alexis Sanchez and Danny Welbeck Wenger may feel he could do with a further boost up front, not least as Theo Walcott is only now returning from a long term injury whilst Olivier Giroud is still sidelined.

Gignac is a powerful forward who could well be suited to life in the English top tier and the chance to bring in a proven finisher of his quality on a free transfer deal is sure to be one that will interest a number of clubs next summer.
