Speaking in the pre-match press conference, Musa said that CSKA will be trying to take advantage of Manchester City’s weakness when they play on Tuesday night.

“As you can see, they are very weak this year,” said the Nigerian.

“We are going to use that advantage against them.”

Given that Manuel Pellegrini’s men scored four goals past Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, with striker Sergio Aguero in lethal form, Musa’s comments are debatable at best, but the CSKA star pressed on, adding that he thought it was unfair that his team would have to play without the support of their fans.

The match will be played in front of an empty stadium, due to UEFA punishing CSKA for three incidents of crowd racism over the last year. The first of the incidents actually involved Manchester City, when monkey chants were directed at Yaya Toure in the same fixture last year. Musa said that the punishment “was unfair.”

After losing to Bayern Munich and drawing with Roma in their first two games, City need a victory in Russia to get their qualification back on track. CSKA are in a similar position, having lost to the same two teams in their opening two fixtures.

With Roma having to play Bayern Munich in both of their next two games, both Man City and CSKA will realise the importance of this fixture. Bavarian giants Bayern are clear favourites to top the group, leaving the rest of the sides to battle it out for second place.
