Old Trafford boss believes his side can climb their way up the table.

Manchester United boss Louis Van Gaal believes Chelsea’s 10-point advantage over his side isn’t out of reach and has backed his players to catch up to them after battling back to a dramatic draw with West Bromwich Albion on Monday night, the Daily Star reports.

The Dutchman says he’s done it before and wouldn’t be surprised if he did it again despite seeing his side needing an 87th-minute goal from Blind to rescue a draw at West Brom.

“Ten points is a lot. It’s possible to do it, but it will be difficult. If I say we can do it then I am arrogant, but I have done it a lot of times before,” he said.

“Chelsea and City are another level, with no disrespect to West Brom. Are we far away? We have to see if we can beat them and after those matches I can tell you ‘yes’ or ‘no’.”

And Van Gaal claimed that he couldn’t be happier with the way his side fought back after going behind twice against the Baggies.

“We dominated the second half and that’s what I want. I want that, but I don’t want 2-2,” he added.

“I’m happy with the style, but not the result because I see it as two points lost. I believe we should have eight points more but that’s a matter of time before we stop the errors.”
