A change in the way the Canadian qualifier for the CONCACAF Champions League is decided meant the 2015 entrant would be the side with the best regular season record in the MLS.

A drab 0-0 draw with the Western Conference’s second-worst side San Jose Earthquakes ultimately sealed Vancouver’s place in next season’s tournament.

They now have 47 points from 33 games, while Toronto have 41 points and Montreal have 27 points. With only one game of the regular season remaining, the Whitecaps cannot be caught.
