The 26 year old moved to White Hart Lane last summer in a £17m deal but has thus far this season managed just 29 minutes of Premier League action with boss Mauricio Pochettino not being a huge fan of the World Cup star, however it seems unlikely Tottenham would be open to loaning the player back to his former club though could perhaps be tempted by a permanent sale for the right price.

Paulinho may feature in Tottenham’s Europa League encounter with Asteras Tripolis on Thursday night but didn’t even make the club’s squad for their defeat to Man City on the weekend.

Last term Paulinho started 28 of 38 Premier League fixtures and whilst it’s true he didn’t exactly set the world alight his debut campaign was still fairly decent.

Pochettino has opted to use Etienne Capoue as his tough tackling midfield presence this term and whilst Paulinho offers more than in the way of a rounded approach it appears he is some way down the Tottenham manager’s pecking order at present.
