The Blues boss has been very pleased with the efforts put in by the former Arsenal man, who was signed from Barcelona, who has already racked up nine assists this term.

Mourinho was quick to lavish praise on the Spaniard after Chelsea’s 6-0 win over Maribor, stating;

‘He [Fabregas] is a better guy than I thought’, he said.

‘He’s a fantastic guy, he’s a fantastic professional.

‘Now I understand why at the age of 19 or 20 or 21 he was Arsenal captain.’

John Terry racked up his 500th game as Chelsea captain on the weekend and clearly at 33 years of age the centre-back is in the latter stages of his glittering, if contentious, career and it’s only sensible that Mourinho would be considering his options for a replacement.
